Domestic set-up to help domestic drama.

Rubbing shoulders, in person and virtually with two other mentors, Tatjana Samopjan and Miryam van Lier as we coach six projects selected for the Flanders Audiovisual Fund TV/web series development program all under the fantastic organisation of Siebe Dumon.

We started working together in Brussels back in Feb ‘20, moving to an online set-up for the second workshop in March. A mix of TV and web series, the flemish writers are all experienced professionals seeking both development and financial support. In both set-ups I’ve used my mapping to explore the ‘economics’ of their story worlds, to make clear the mechanisms that will drive their stories across multiple episodes and seasons.

After two days working through a web camera, we were all relieved and pleasantly surprised as to how successful the digital set-up worked. Perhaps the need to meet in person can be properly challenged and that Covid-19 might pave the way to better practices to help tackle climate change.
