A revealling podcast by Paddy Ashdown into the lessons produced from the Marchall Plan after the WWII and then sadly thrown out after the invasion of Iraq. Ironically it was the Americans after WWII who saw the need to raise the standard of living for Germans, to give back local power (not central power) and to reduce the ambition of de-Nazification. Sadly the Americans and allies took the opposite approach in Iraq.
