Blu

October '09, delivered Cross Media production workshop.

“From new technology to new formats in three steps”

Technology influences format, although past connections aren’t always that obvious. In terms of prediction, the challenge is even greater. By taking a stepped approach and using video from the web, we explore the new phenomena, the new social norms and then if we’re lucky, the potential new formats that could arise.  Duration: 1.5 – 2.5 hours.

‘Create the religion then write the bible’

Changing the way cross-media formats are approached from the outdated model of producing the TV show first and then retrofitting an online offering around it. How can we take a step back and create the setting into which a format/brand can then deliver across a range of platforms and media.  Duration 1.5 hours

'Capturing your own creativity'

What happens when you capture and share your own process when creating. How can process deliver innovation. What soft steps can we make within an organization to deliver change.  Duration: 1 – 1.5 hours.

Dansk Journalistforbund

From new technology to new formats - in three steps

Producing and presenting a session for the Danish Journalist Union. "Technology influences format, a claim television commissioners previously rejected, that is until their fancy new iPhone arrived. What distinguishes X-Factor from its 1970’s predecessors is the armchair voting provided by the mobile telephone. How much technology has influenced TV formats creates debate, but the challenge lies in predicting what formats will fall out of today’s technology. By watching a range of the latest tech promo videos ‘borrowed’ from the web, this session will explore the up-and-coming phenomena, the new social norms and if lucky, predict the new TV formats of tomorrow."

Die Akademie für Kindermedien

'07-'08, '08-'09, '09-'10 & '10-'11

Interactive and Cross Media Mentor

The Children's Media Academy provides a unique environment for creative individuals developing Feature Films, TV-Series or Interactive Media for children. As mentor I support the development of four projects each year, through analyzing, deconstructing and (re)constructing the participants concepts.

"As head of studies, it's vital that we attract the very best practitioners to mentor our programme. We are very fortunate to have secured Paul for a 2nd year at the academy as Interactive Mentor & have asked that he considers a 3rd year. Paul is a motivator, he thrives in a creative environment, clearly understanding the emerging technologies & trends of digital media whilst making sense of them to those around him. He's a quick thinker and do'er, able to generate ideas on the fly whilst always open to the ideas of others. He's someone who's never satisfied with the status quo, always on the look out for ways to develop & self-develop & with an instinct-driven sensibility to discover errors in the systems you work in & the talent to transform them to potentials.” Thomas Hailer, Programme Manager, Berlin International Film Festival.
